Care for Dogs is a sterilization clinic and rescue center that aims to improve the health of street and temple dogs, reduce the number of strays, adopt animals both domestically and internationally, and combat the dog meat trade. With approximately 200 dogs in their care at all times, volunteers are invited to come and socialize, bathe, walk, and feed the animals, who mostly live in a large pack atmosphere.
Types of animals: Dogs
Volunteer duration: Minimum four days; Must first attend volunteer orientation on a Wednesday at 10AM. Please note that the shelter is closed and does not utilize volunteers on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Sundays.
Cost: Free, but monetary or supply donations (food, leashes, toys, etc.) are greatly appreciated
Accommodations Details: Volunteers must arrange for their own accommodations. There are several guesthouses within walking or cycling distance.
Budget: Basic homestay arranged by Care for Dogs, 200 THB ($6.80) per night
Mid-Range: Nugent Waterside, 5,550 THB ($188) per week
Typical Day: After the 4 day minimum (Wed-Sat) volunteers may set their own schedule, volunteering half or full days. Days are spent socializing with the dogs, cleaning enclosures, walking and bathing the animals, and more.
